Outright Passenger & Freight Locomotive Sales

Higher Power Industries offers a broad range of locomotive models for outright purchase. As a turnkey offering, HPI can select locomotive candidates (hulks), perform desired scope of work (from “as-is” operating condition to full Class A overhaul and modernization or modification), and deliver the units to the customer site for training and commissioning. Pricing varies based on current condition of hulk and desired work scope.

A recent international freight customer required selection and procurement of a fleet of SD40-2 locomotives. HPI performed a modernization of major subsystems (including microprocessor upgrade), and engineering/structural modifications to meet the required 25 tonnes/axle. The fleet was completed, shipped overseas, and tested and commissioned at the customer site.
